What is WikiVision?

Who We Are

Founded in 2020 by highschoolers Alexander and Arabella Tan, WikiVision is a Hawaii-based 501(c )(3) nonprofit that aims to provide free eye surgeries to community members in need. We offer care to uninsured and underinsured members of the community who otherwise would not be able to afford surgery to restore their vision. Though cataract surgery is very effective in restoring sight, the surgery to remove them can cost anywhere from $6,000-$10,000 for those without insurance. We work alongside with doctors and eye surgeons in the community in order to provide free care for anyone who is in need.

How can I help?

Any and all support through our online fundraiser or social media sites is deeply appreciated! Our work would not be posible without all of the support that we have already received, and we are very grateful to everyone who has helped us thus far!

How did WikiVision start?

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, WikiVision founders Alec Tan and Arabella Tan were inspired to give back to their community. Having grown up with exposure to topics in ophthalmology, and witnessing the value of sight firsthand, they felt that offering free cataract surgeries was their way of doing their part to give back.
