WikiVision: 2021 Milestones

Cataract Surgery Day 2021

On our very first Cataract Surgery Day, the WikiVision team, along with the Eye Surgery Center of Hawaii, was able to provide free cataract surgeries to 8 members of our community. Although we faced many difficulties due to the COVID-19 pandemic that was ongoing at the time, we still managed to restore vision to these people!

Tecate Mission Trip

The WikiVision team made a trip to Tecate, Mexico during the spring of 2022 to provide free cataract surgeries to patients in need from those communities. Working with fellow ophthalmologists, we restored vision to 20 people from the Tecate community at zero cost.

Our team was able to experience firsthand how blindness affects both the person with the vision problems as well as one’s family members, who have to help the person go about their daily lives. It was amazing being able to restore such an essential sense and see the sense of freedom people felt after they could see again.

Fundraising Concert 2021

WikiVision held our first virtual fundraising concert on August 21, 2021 to support our free cataract surgeries. Through it and our generous supporters, we were able to reach our fundraising goal! Thank you all so much for your support!
