Dr. Vivien Tham

Chairperson

Dr. Tham was educated at the University of London, Brown University, the Jules Stein Eye Institute at UCLA, and she completed her fellowship at UCSF. She has been practicing Ophthalmology in Hawaii for nearly 20 years and is the president and founder of Pacific Vision Institute of Hawaii. Dr. Tham is also an Associate Clinical Professor at the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii. In addition to mentoring the next generation of Hawaii, Dr. Tham is looking forward to restoring vision in those who need it but are unable to afford it in Hawaii and in developing countries. Ophthalmology is her passion and she is excited to be on the Board of Directors of WikiVision.

Dr. Kenneth Lee

Vice-Chairperson

Dr. Lee is a local boy, graduating from Kaiser High School. He did his schooling on the mainland, studying at Harvard Medical School, completing his residency at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. He’s been at Straub Hospital and Clinic for the last 20 years as a general Ophthalmologist. In the last few years, he and his family have had the wonderful opportunity to do surgical eye missions in the third world. He is active in his church and as a tennis dad.

Tuan Nguyen

Secretary

Tuan Nguyen immigrated to the United States from Vietnam in 1975.  He grew up in California, received his BS Electrical Engineering from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and an MBA from Pepperdine University.  He currently works for Spirent managing their commercial programs and CPQ business system.  He and his wife have three children.  Tuan enjoys coaching and mentoring kids to develop their life skills to help them excel in their endeavors.  In addition, he currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Premananda Orphanage Centre which helps care for and educate orphans in India.

Chris Lum

Treasurer

Christopher Lum was born and raised in Kerman, California, a small farming community near Fresno. He received his Bachelor’s of Science degree at the University of California, Irvine and his medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York.

After medical school, he returned to the University of California, Irvine to complete his residency in Ophthalmology.  Dr. Lum has been in practice since 2001 and specializes in cataract surgery and diseases of the anterior segment.  He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.  

When he is not in the office, Dr. Lum enjoys spending time with his family in the outdoors including hunting, fishing, gardening, cycling and stand-up paddle boarding.
